Sorry for lack of updates. I've been trying to plan for my future and other insignificant things like that. I appreciate all the people that are still stopping by to see what the team is up to. Here's what we've been doing...
Lots of indoor practice. We get gym space on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7 pm. We hit the drills hard and get excited to actually throw a disc in the confined space of Withrow Gym.
Then the rest is conditioning. We go to the Rec Center on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays hour and a half to two hour work outs. A normal workout will include a rigorous set of plyometrics, a track workout, and stairs. The track stuff varies between 200s, 400s, 800s, 1600s, and intervals. We've moved passed our 3-4 mile jogs to build a base and are focused on more sprint oriented exercises. The plyometrics are various jumping exercises, lunges, calf raises, etc. We do stairs one legged all the way up and two legged hops jumping as high as you can.
A solid five days of working out takes it toll, but the results are what count. We've started to break up the land workouts and have jumped into the pool. We started to do plyometrics in the pool, which is tougher than on land. Then we have guys running against currents in the lazy river (for lack of a better word), which is a great cardio and muscular workout. Not to mention to we hit the lanes and do some legitimate laps in the pool. Swimming is tough and a good workout. Breaks up the monotony of the winter. Can we play outside yet?
We're gearing up for our home tournament and we hope to improve on last year's disappointing finish. We've got a good field of 20 teams coming to Oxford on the 8th and 9th. Should be a blast.
After that we've got Terminus and Easterns. We're excited to be involved with two more very competitive tournaments. These two tournaments that should battle test us for what counts: The College Series. We've gone to the most competitive tournaments in our team's history and have come out with more Ls than we're used to, but it's been a cool experience. You won't be able to markedly improve unless you start rubbing elbows with the best. Playing Pitt, UNC, Ohio State, etc. have given us that experience.
Highlight reels of Mardi Gras and Queen City are coming sometime. I don't know when. I mean let's be honest, if you check this site, you're hoping for another highlight reel along with my idle banter about our workouts (but not just that banter...you want some video). I'll try to deliver soon, but like I said it's been busy with trying to have to figure out where I can get employment.
That's about where we're at. Leave some comments and make things interesting. Make fun of Chuck, chant Joefish, admit you're an alum checking up on your team, admit your from the East Plains Section and you check this from time to time, or talk about how pissed you are that Doug isn't graduating.

Man the boogiemen sound like they are working like crazy!!!! I am sure they will definitely have an awesome season after all that hard work especially with their excellent new rookies.
I heard you've got a first year Junior....some maniacal blue sock wearing behemoth...that's just the rumor, but I bet he's ferocious.
