Watching the best...trying to be the best. Nationals 2007.

Nationals is always an exciting time. Watching the best players in the nation is an extremely fun and humbling experience. Last year there was no serious talk about Miami being a part of that tournament, but this year there was a different tone. Whether delivered in jest or not, many Boogiemen had the sentiment that this was a goal we needed to be aiming for. I was even approached by Mr. Hamilton, and essentially interrogated on the things I was going to do on a personal level and the things the team needed to do as a whole to get to Nationals next year. I was startled by how upfront he was about it, but it was cool to see the honest enthusiasm about the goal.

Besides having three days of carefree fun, lots of food, and a good time with friends, I think that we all must take something very serious from our weekend in Columbus. Watching these players should show us how hard we need to work to become a top team. Not only that, but the nuiances of how they play the game is something everyone must take away. Their throws, cuts, marks, intensity, and everything else. I make it a point to emulate elite players to develop my game. We are still in the transition phase of our ultimate careers and have by no means arrived, so what better than to take "advice" from the best?

Snaps and I drove home to Oxford together and had an important conversation. It was clear that we both want to take our game and the team to the next level. This was a continuing series of discussions we have been having regarding the team. We are constantly thinking of ways that we can take this team to the top and truly make 2008 the year to remember. The two of us are dedicated to leading this team on an unforgettable journey. While we are figuring how ways to get us there, it is imperative every player is working intensely to make this a reality when school starts.

362 days until Nationals 2008...it is up to each person on the Miami roster to decide whether we will be on the fields or in the stands.
